Day 2: We will set out bright and early for a day of travel to the seaside city of Batumi. Along our journey we’ll make stops in both Imereti and Guria for personal visits to two of the most prominent winemakers in Georgia. At their wineries we will get the chance to taste exquisite regional wines and food, before continuing along our way to arrive in Batumi for dinner

Day 3: This is our chance to see Batumi by day. We’ll start with a walking or driving tour of the city and then wander through the famous bazaar. Then later on in the day we’ll take a short 30 minute drive up into the mountains for a visit and cooking demonstration with a local family. We’ll spend the evening learning and tasting the best of home cooked Georgian cuisine before retiring for the night to our nearby accommodations.

Day 4: This morning we’ll move along our way to the province of Samegrelo, where we’ll find the city of Zugdidi and its exciting market. After a visit with a local family and an authentic regional lunch, we’ll travel outside of the city to explore the nearby tea plantation and hazelnut plantation. Next we’ll head over to the small town of Anaklia, where we’ll enjoy a local dinner before turning in to our accommodations.

Day 5: Our next day in the Samegrelo region will be spent discovering the Martrilli Monastery, where we will partake in a privileged wine tasting and lunch. We will then head over to Zaza Gagua for another tasting of qvevri wines. After a full day of exquisite wines and rich history we’ll travel to Kutaisi for our accommodations and dinner.

Day 6: We’ll start out bright and early with a chance to explore Kutaisi, including visits to the elegant Cathedral and the lively bazaar. Then we’ll visit a renowned Imeretian winery for a lunch paired perfectly with local wines. For the evening we’ll head back to Kutaisi where we’ll take part in a cooking class, followed by an authentic dinner which we prepared ourselves. The best souvenir is, after all, a recipe!

Day 7: We’ll set out to the Racha area for a visit to one of Georgia’s most picturesque and pristine lakes. Here we can sit back and relax lakeside while enjoying a picnic cooked for us over an open fire. As the day carries on, we’ll stop off in a local home for a wine tasting, before attending a fun and insightful cooking class to learn the traditions and treasured techniques of preparing Rachan specialities which include lobio (beans), Lobiani, a bean pastry and other local delicacies. After dinner we will head back to our accommodation in to our nearby Racha accommodation.

Day 8: A highlight of our journey and a unique opportunity, today we will visit a Qvevrimaker in Imereti and learn how the world’s most ancient vessel of wine storage is created. After we’re finished learning about Qvevrimaking we’ll make stops to discover the ancient Cave City, Uplistsikhe, as well as the hill city of Gori. We’ll later arrive at Iago’s Winery in time for a festive dinner with some local wine, before continuing on to our accommodations in the neighboring Mtsheta.
